I grew up in Germany, the Netherlands and England.
I studied Communication at a Business School and fairly quickly decided that that wasn't quite my jam. I loved writing, designing, creating a story - but I was growing more and more aware of the various issues in our world and it didn't sit right to work for a cause that furthered those issues, rather than lessened them. And so I ended up working for some NGOs, and doing a lot of volunteer work. With time, I realised that even though we all had the same goal, the ways we were working together weren't working out so well at times. That's when I encountered non-violent communication (NVC). That helped. More time passed and I realised that even with NVC, I was still ending up in situations that weren't so great - boundaries crossed, conflict escalating... something was missing. I found somatics and emodiment and the Resilience Toolkit, and it spoke to that gap and easily filled it. Since then, life has felt softer. |
Me about myself
I am faced with the conundrum of what to say about myself in these few lines. What might be of interest to my reader? I could make a list of my education, my work experiences, my accomplishments - and that feels like a crass reduction of life to a few key moments that in and of themselves mean very little, without more information, more context, more understanding of how they shaped me and what I carry forward from them.
And yet, I appreciate that those interested in working with me (and lets face it, that is the purpose of this website) would like to know something about who they're dealing with. What makes me qualified? Why should you trust me? These days I find myself playing extensive board games, going for long walks, missing the ocean and longing to be in water, talking on the phone to friends afar, lovingly watering the plants that keep me company, and wondering when life will beckon me to change location again.
